The baskets of Dresden Porcelain are characterised by its strict geometry underlined by the perforated bars but made less severe by the leaf and flower decor. Other models have supporting cherubs or a single base in the centre, often itself decorated with perforations and flowers. The potential for variety is almost limitless. The decorations, frequently floral in character, are brush painted by hand. The Dresden Flower is an arrangement of poppy, auricula, rose and ivy or of cornflower, orange, ivy, carnation, heather and rose, the precise design of which is variable within limits, but in which traditional arrangements must be maintained.
