The copper engravings from the French artist Watteau supply the inspiration for the hand painted pictures. Already in 1735, his polite Rococo scenes and charming couples sitting or promenading in an idyllic park setting were used for porcelain decorations.
This tradition is continued even today by the painters of the Dresden Porcelain factory. Often using very fine brushes and diverse color palettes, painters of Watteau pictures are a completely separate genre of painters that require a large amount of experience.
